Online countdown
–– days ––:––:––
Choose a future date and time
Pick a future date and time on this device. AlarmPick shows the days, hours, minutes, and seconds left until that moment. The count follows that target and the clock on this device. You can use it at no charge.
What this countdown is
A countdown measures the time left until a date and time you choose. It is not a stopwatch. The timer on AlarmPick starts from a length of time. This page starts from a calendar moment.
How to use it
- Choose the date and time. The suggested time is about an hour ahead, and nothing starts until you press Set.
- Add a short title if you want one. It stays in this browser.
- Set starts the count. Reset clears it. Full screen enlarges the numbers. Share sends the title, the target, and this page address.
What you can do
- A count of days, hours, minutes, and seconds until a local date and time.
- An optional title of up to 100 characters, stored only in this browser.
- Full screen, and sharing or copying the countdown as text.
Ways to use it
- A trip, a meeting, a deadline, or the turn of the year.
- Any future moment you want to keep in view on this device.
Accuracy and browser limits
- Remaining time is the target moment minus the current time on this device. If that clock is wrong, the countdown is wrong too.
- A background tab may draw less often. Coming back compares the target with the device clock again. Missed screen updates are not subtracted one by one.
- Closing the browser does not keep a countdown running on a server. If the saved target is still in this browser, opening the page again continues from that target. Clearing site data removes it.
- The date and time are the local time of this device. This page does not convert time zones.
- There is no sound when the countdown reaches zero.
Questions
What is a countdown timer?
A countdown timer shows how long is left until a date and time you choose. Days stay separate from the hours, minutes, and seconds.
How does this countdown calculate remaining time?
It stores the target as an absolute moment and subtracts the current time on this device. It does not count down by adding up screen updates.
Does the countdown keep counting in a background tab?
The target does not move. A hidden tab may pause drawing. When you return, the page subtracts the device time from that same target.
What happens if I refresh the page?
A saved countdown comes back from its target. If that moment is still ahead, the count continues. If it has passed, the countdown is complete.
Does the countdown work if I close the browser?
No server keeps it running. Opening the page again can restore a target that is still saved in this browser. Clearing site data removes that save.
Can I add a title to my countdown?
Yes. The title can be up to 100 characters. It stays on this device and is shown as plain text.
Can I share a countdown?
Yes. Share sends or copies the title, the target, and the address of this countdown page. That address is not a separate page for each countdown.
