Online alarm
Alarms load in this browser.
Set an alarm for a local time on this device. AlarmPick works out the next moment that time occurs and compares it with the clock on this device. You can keep several alarms in this browser, at no charge. This is a browser alarm: it can ring only while this page is open and able to run.
What is an online alarm clock?
An online alarm clock stores a clock time and rings when this device reaches it. AlarmPick uses the time on this computer or phone. It does not contact a time server, and it is not an alarm built into the operating system.
How to use it
- Enter a time and a short label if you want one, such as Wake up, Meeting, or Workout.
- Leave every day selected, pick particular days, or choose once. Every day is the starting choice.
- Set the volume, then use Enable sound and Test sound. A browser can block sound until you do that.
- Add the alarm. You can turn it off, edit it, or delete it later. Off keeps the alarm. Delete removes it.
What you can do
- Several alarms, up to 50, each with its own time, label, and on or off state.
- Once, or selected days of the week. Every day behaves as the next matching local time.
- A plain-text label of up to 100 characters.
- A generated beep or chime, and a volume from 0 to 100. Zero means muted.
- Dismiss or stop the sound when an alarm is due. There is no snooze.
Common uses
- Waking up while this page stays open.
- A meeting or a reminder later today.
- A workout or another daily time on the days you select.
Browser, audio, and background limits
- Closing the tab, closing the browser, or letting the system stop the page means the alarm will not ring. AlarmPick cannot run after the page is gone.
- A phone with the screen off, or a browser the system has frozen, may not run this page. This is not a native alarm and it does not run in the background as an installed clock app would.
- A background tab can be delayed or paused. Coming back can still ring if the alarm time is no more than about a minute ago. After that, it does not ring late. It moves to the next time and shows that the last one was missed.
- Sound can stay blocked until you tap or click. Enable sound and Test sound do that on purpose. If the browser still suspends audio, the alarm stays visible without sound.
- Volume zero is muted. A muted alarm does not play, and the page says it is muted so it does not look as if it will ring.
- The alarm uses the local time on this device. If that clock is wrong, the alarm is wrong. Daylight saving can skip or repeat a local hour. A time that does not exist is skipped. A time that happens twice uses the moment the browser returns. This page does not choose a time zone.
- Alarms are saved in this browser only. Clearing site data removes them. There is no account and no server copy.
- If this site is open in more than one tab, the tabs try to let only one of them play the sound for that alarm time. That reduces double sound. It is not a perfect lock, so a rare overlap is still possible.
Questions
How do I set an online alarm?
Open this page, enter a local time, choose once or the days you want, then add the alarm. Enable sound and test it before you rely on it. The page has to stay open.
Will the alarm ring if I close the browser?
No. If the tab or the browser is closed, or the system stops the page, AlarmPick cannot ring. Opening the page again does not replay an alarm that is already more than about a minute past.
Why might my alarm sound not play?
The browser may block audio until you click Enable sound or Test sound. Volume zero is muted. A background tab can also be paused. If sound fails, the due alarm still stays on screen.
Can I set multiple alarms?
Yes. You can keep up to 50 alarms in this browser. Changing one does not change the others.
Can I turn an alarm off without deleting it?
Yes. Off leaves the time and the label in place and stops that alarm from ringing. Delete is separate and removes it.
Does the alarm work in a background tab?
It can, but a hidden tab may be delayed. The page checks the device clock again when you return. It rings only if the alarm time is still inside about a minute. It does not ring a long time later.
Why should I enable or test sound first?
Browsers often refuse sound until you have clicked or tapped the page. Enable sound and Test sound are that step. Without it, the alarm can appear and still stay silent.
